Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon is located along the Potomac River where its Southeast border is the dividing line between Virginia and Maryland. The name is derived from the Mount Vernon estate, home to the first President of the United States George Washington. However, that isn’t the only exciting connection between this community of Fairfax County and American history. Mount Vernon is known for its historical landmarks, including the George Washington’s Distillery and Gristmill where tourists learn about colonial-era whiskey production.

The sparse suburban feel associated with Mount Vernon is treasured by many. Its nearly 12,500 residents can enjoy all the surrounding natural beauty with scenic walks through some of the best parks and trails the DMV has to offer. Because of abundant charm and appeal, this area of Alexandria continues to grow and expand at a rapid pace.

As if history and beauty were not enough, Mount Vernon is brimming with entertainment and fine dining. Being such a tourist hotspot, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that there are tons of local and nearby amenities. Residents also benefit from convenient access to Old Town directly north, as well as DC and Arlington via Route 1., making it an amazing location for working professionals looking to be just outside the bustling city.
